It was established in 1986 and it takes as a principal function the promotion and protection of the freedom of expression. With head office in the United Kingdom, it has also a regional office in Africa. Article 19 has associates in more than 30 countries. Committee to Protect the Periodistas/Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ)
CPJ is an apolitical organization, without lucre ends founded in 1981 to fight against abuses against the press and to encourage the freedom of expression in the whole world. CPJ has his head office in New York. The CPJ protects journalists when it denounces abuses against the press and when it realizes negotiations in favor of arrested or threatened journalists, in such a way that he warns the public where attacks happen to the press. The CPJ realizes energetic protests at any level, from local governments up to the United Nations and even, when it is necessary, realizing diplomatic negotiations for unofficial channels. The CPJ also publishes articles and expresses press releases, special reportages, a quarterly bulletin and his annual report on attacks to the press in the whole world, considered the most exhaustive of his type.

Inter-American society of Press (SIP)
The SIP is an organization without lucre ends dedicated to defending the freedom of expression and of press in all the Americas. International federation of Journalists / International Federation of Journalists (IFJ)
It was established in 1926. Today it represents nearly 450,000 members in 100 countries, being the journalists' biggest organization in the world. The federation has his head office in Brussels, Belgium and six regional offices in different countries. International exchange of the Freedom of Expresión/International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX)
The International Exchange of the Freedom of expression (IFEX) arose like a force of vigorous and prosperous opposition, because they continue the serious violations of the freedom of expression in the whole world. IFEX was born in 1992, when many of the most important organizations to the advantage of the freedom of expression met in Montreal to debate the best way of advancing towards his collective goals. The IFEX nucleus is constituted by organizations which members are ready to defend those who have the value to demand his fundamental human right to the free expression when they are censured, treated brutally or murdered. Integrated by more than 25 situated groups different of freedom of expression everywhere, from Oceania, Europe and western Africa-IFEX assembles an extraordinarily diverse and dedicated global community. In the last years, many new members of the developing countries have joined the IFEX community - and have contributed new perspectives and energy. The decentralized IFEX structure believe a dynamic and truly international corporation.

Association for the Defense of the Independent Journalism (JOURNALISTS)
PERIODISTAS was created in December, 1995 before the increasing threats to the independent press and to the journalism. The murder of the graphic reporter José Luis Cabezas, on January 25, 1997, confirmed the reasons of his origin. JOURNALISTS it took part in the organization of two mobilizations that assembled thousands of persons in claim of the investigation of the crime. The association is a Nongovernmental organization independent from the owners' camerawomen of means and of the guild members of workpeople. His members are the journalistic directors, editors-in-chief, columnists, writers and drivers of radio and television, without economic commitments not political and whose diversity of ideological inclinations guarantees the most finished pluralism. Means for the Peace (MPP)
It is an organization without ends of lucre that is shaped by a group of 64 Colombian journalists that we think about how to propitiate a responsible journalism in the covering of the war and of the efforts of negotiation for a political exit. It agglutinates in whole to 774 journalists of the whole country and of the exterior (to August, 2002) that, being employed at Network, do permanent analysis and reflection on the Colombian reality and we support a constant exchange of information about our office and about the everyday occurrences of the peace and of the War. Office of Human rights of the Archbishopric (ODHA)
It was created by the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese, Juan Gerardi, to attend to victims and relatives of the violence happened during the years of war in Guatemala but also to attend to all those who were enduring violations of the fundamental rights. It was across this office that there was realized the first inventory of war crimes committed against the civil population. After the Gerardi murder in 1998, the office survives and the bishop Mario Ríos Montt is now in charge of her. The ODHA knows daily about big quantity of denunciations of violations of the human rights and serves like channel to document and to investigate the context of a threat or persecusión. A threatened journalist might look in her for accompaniment and help to identify his aggressors. Although the area of action of the Office limits to the Metropolitan Archdiocese, the pastoral social ones of the Church, presents in all the dioceses of the country, they expire with similar functions of assistance to victims of threats or persecusión.

Foundation Manuel Buendía (FMB)

Journalists of Investigation - I WILL GO Mexico
It is a project that initiated in September, 1996. At present it is provided with more than 300 members in Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United States, Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, El Salvador and Argentina, all of them investigation journalists. The project in Mexico arose from the members (both Latin-American and North American) of an international association of name Investigative Reporters and Editors. Investigative Reporter and Editors, or I WILL GO as it is known by his initials in English, it has 20 years of experience in the organization of workshops and conferences in the United States with the intention of supporting and of helping to perfect the work of the journalists of investigation. It is provided with more than three thousand members in the United States and in other countries, including Mexico. Journalists of Investigation (I will go Mexico) it will propitiate the exchange of knowledge, information and experiences between his members, and will promote the investigation journalism by means of seminars and conferences, the publication of a bulletin and the training of reporters and publishers interested by journalism assisted by computer. Latin-American center of Journalism (CELAP)
The mission of this organization is to strengthen a free and responsible press in Latin America, by means of the continuous personal development of the journalists, owners of mass media, manager of news and teachers of the journalism of the region. The center is located in the City of Panama, Republic of Panama. It receives financial support by means of contributions of the owners of mass media, of private foundations and of income generated by its own activities. Institute Press and Society (IPYS)
It is not governmental organism without lucre ends, founded in 1993 by journalists and Peruvian publishers to defend and to promote the freedoms of the press and expression, in the frame of the human rights, and to reinforce the roll of the mass media in the construction of the democratic State in Peru and other countries of the Andean region. The IPYS devotes itself systematically to the monitoring of the freedom of expression in Peru. It is sustained in the beginning of the free journalism in a democratic society and tolerates the difference of ideas between his members, the same that promotes the widest freedom for the diffusion of information and opinions, meanwhile they do not affect other fundamental rights of the person. His organs of direction and consultation are integrated by out-standing journalists with recognition and prestige at national and international level. The IPYS prepares and spreads alert notes to defend the freedom of expression, organizes discussion forums on the roll of the press and opens spaces so that the journalism could develop without hobbles or pressures. At the same time, it favors the informative transparence and encourages the establishment of mechanisms that allow to the citizens to receive a better and more opportune information.

Council of the Peruvian Press
In 1996 the first steps happened for the formation of the Council of the Peruvian Press with the intention of:" To strengthen increasingly the credibility of the press in the public opinion; as well as to prevent in a permanent way the validity of the freedoms of information, expression, opinion and of the free journalistic company". The Center for the Freedom of the press in Puerto Rico (CLP)
It is a project of the University of the Sacred Heart and the newspaper The New Day. It was founded in 1999 with the intention of educating students of journalism and other related disciplines, members of the academy, journalists and to the rest of the Puerto Rican community on the rights and the responsibilities of the freedom of the press. The only entity in Puerto Rico, the Center from his beginning has joined to the civil society to serve like an entity unifier, educator and of analysis on the matters that atañen to the practice of the journalism and as this one affects those that they produce, lead and consume the written, radial, television and virtual news. In his trajectory the CLP he proposes to establish alliances with homologous organizations with which it could develop activities, programs and educational journalistic projects, to turn into an institution where there germinates the interest, the enthusiasm and the exchange of ideas to preserve and to enrich a free press and of excellence. The Center chases three targets: to serve like a research center on the responsibilities of having a press free for students of journalism, journalists and students of other academic disciplines; to serve like a forum for the education, discussion and exchange of ideas on the freedom of the press that are debated in the courts and the Term. To achieve his intentions the Center is provided with a Together multidisciplinary Assessor, whose cochairmen are the President of the University of the Sacred Heart and the Director of The New Day, and an Executive director. There is located in the Center of Means II, Building Barat of the University of the Sacred Heart in Santurce.
