  • I center for the Opening and the Development in Latin America
    The CADAL web site includes information about several books published by the organization, and as a whole with other organizations and companies. The majority they make them available in its entirety for the network in format PDF, and treat topics like the freedom, the expression, and the democracy in Latin America.

  • Caught In The Crossfire: Freedom of Expression in Venezuela (in English)
    A report realized by the organization Human Rights Watch on the mistake of the Venezuelan government of protecting journalists against violence directed to them. Across the report, HRW demands from the Venezuelan government that should defend the freedom of expression inside the country.

  • Freedom in the Americas Today (in English)
    Special report realized by Freedom House, a non-governmental independent organization which target is the support to the expansion of the freedom in the world. It is a compilation of the information and the information that Freedom House gathered in all his annual reports about the global state of the freedom and of the freedom of the press of last thirty years. The report focuses in the trajectory that these topics have taken inside Latin America in the last three decades.

  • Observatory of the Journalists: The Press in Guatemala
    The Center of Informative Reports on Guatemala (CERIGUA), a news agency founded to announce the topics that affect the Guatemalan population, he published this special report in which they describe the installation and the targets of the Observatory of the Journalists, a space dedicated to watching and to promoting the rights and the journalistic ethics. Also, they discuss the situation of the Guatemalan press in the years 2002-2004.

  • Map of Risks for Journalists
    The publication has two fundamental intentions: of documenting the violence against the journalists and his generating agents and how does this one influence his daily work; and to alert and to educate local journalists and foreign correspondents on the dangers that it bears the news coverage with the fortitude of which preventive measurements are adopted to eliminate or, at least, to diminish these risks. This is the fourth book published by the SIP in the frame of the Project Against the Impunity with the cooperation of the Foundation James L. and John S. Knight.

Argentina

  • Journalistic ethics in the Argentina and in the world
    This comparative study was written by the Argentine journalist Pablo Mendelevich, with the support of the Forum of Argentine Journalism (FOPEA) and the Foundation Konrad Adenauer. The study shows how they have talked each other in diverse great countries of the ethical problems that appear in Argentina. Also it includes a text of the Spanish Joaquín Estefanía referred to the application of norms in the newspaper El Pais, four finished codes written by journalists of Australia, Québec, Costa Rica and the United States.

  • A Subtle Censoring
    "A Subtle Censoring: I abuse official publicity and other restrictions to the freedom of expression in Argentina" it was prepared by the Association for the Civil rights and the Initiative Pro-Justicia. In the report there are analyzed some of the subtlest forms in which the government officials interfere with the freedom of the means and the publishing independence in Argentina - in contrast to the most obvious violations and often descriptas, like the legal harassment or acts of violence and intimidation to journalists.

    A report realized by Amnesty International in January, 2006 in which they describe the challenges and the dangers that there face journalists, elected officials, and candidates during electoral campaigns in Colombia, and they demand from them to the groups armed with the national conflict that they should respect the rights of all the citizens and residents of the country.

    The pitfalls of the war, journalism and conflict there is a book realized by the same organization that “tries to alert the Colombian journalists on the intentions of the actors armed to turn the information into a war weapon and to warn them about the existence of professional hardware that can avoid it."

  • The Hurt Truth
    The publication is a part of the Project Antonio Nariño, an effort of the Association of Colombian Newspapers, the corporation Means For the Peace, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Colombia, the Foundation New Latin-American Journalism and the Foundation for the Freedom of the press. The text assembles memoirs of seminars organized by the project, as well as testimonies of Colombian journalists in the exile, between other materials.

  • Another Crack in the Wall: Report and Testimonies of the New Cuban Press
    Written by the Argentine professor Fernando Ruiz, and published by CADAL, the Foundation Konrad Adenauer and The Corridor Editions, this book thinks about how to raise again the clamor for the freedom of expression in Cuba between the journalists and teachers of communications of the country. It is free in format PDF across the CADAL web site.

  • Cuba: fundamental freedoms still under attack (in English)
    A report realized by Amnesty International in March, 2006 on the freedom of expression lack in Cuba, and the detentions of 72 prisoners of conscience in March, 2003, including to several journalists, most of which remain imprisoned in Cuba.

  • On March 18, 2003 - March 18, 2006: Three years after the black spring, the independent press refuses to be in the shade
    Reporters Sin Fronteras, an international organization which target is the support and the journalists' defender and the freedom of the press about the world, realized a special report on the situation of the freedom of the press in Cuba after the “black spring” of 2003, when the government detained 90 opponents, including to twenty-seven journalists, accused of being “agents of the North American enemy”.

Mexico

  • Indicators proposal for a quality journalism

    The study was sponsored by The Network of quality Journalism and by the Trust for the Americas to measure the current state of the professional training within reach of the journalists in Mexico. Based on qualitative and quantitative investigations, the study recommends steps to be continued to improve the quality of the journalism inside the country across the establishment of standards and an increasing number of opportunities of training for the new journalists and the already existing ones.

    The book written by Juan Carlos Núñez Bustillos and Sergio René of God Crowns, tackles the roll of the organisms of the civil society in the debates and the incidence in the public politics. Paraguay

  • Analysis of Proposed "Paraguayan Free Access to Public Information Law" (in English)
    A report realized in 2004 by Article 19 in which they analyze the draft of the Paraguayan law of Free Access to Public information. The analysis bases on two documents keys published by Article 19, The Public's Right to Know: Principles on Freedom of Information Legislation and A Model Freedom of Information Law, which represent an international general consensus on the controversial topics, and have been used to analyze legislation of freedom of information of countries about the world.

    Article 19 is an international organization for the defense of the human rights, particularly the right to the free expression and to the access to information. His web site includes a page dedicated to several reports and publications that they have realized in the one that they discuss and there investigate topics related to freedom and expression the Latin America, for example the procedures of the Inter-American Court of Human rights, and memorandums on the Laws of Libertad de Información of several Latin-American countries.

  • WPFC: Publications (in English)
    World Press Freedom Committee, international organization that coordinates 45 journalistic groups for the defense and the promotion of the freedom of the press, offers in his Internet place a page with almost 60 of his principal publications treating on international, available freedom of the press topics in its entirety in format PDF. Between the most excellent publications to Latin America, they are manual for available journalists in Spanish, like also several reports on the contempt laws, for example the publication "Hiding from the People", that tries to be a concise explanation and argument of the elimination of the restrictive laws of contempt of the whole world.
